Fundamentals of Machine Component Design Global Edition
Valued as a standard in the course, Juvinall and Marshek′s Fundamentals of Machine Component Design continues to focus on the fundamentals of component design – free body diagrams, force flow concepts, failure theories, and fatigue design, with applications to fasteners, springs, bearings, gears, clutches, and brakes. Problem-solving skills are developed by the implementation of a proven methodology which provides a structure for accurately formulating problems and clearly presenting solutions. This edition includes additional coverage of composites, the material selection process, and wear/wear theory, along with new and updated examples and homework problems.
Pre-Order (3-4 weeks)
About the book. This text provides a complete coverage of the basic principles of heat transfer and a broad range of applications. Heat and Mass Transfer: Fundamentals and Applications by Yunus Cengel and Afshin Ghajar provide the perfect blend of fundamentals and applications. The text provides a highly intuitive and practical understanding of the material by emphasizing the physics and the underlying physical phenomena involved. This text covers the standard topics of heat transfer with an emphasis on physics and real-world every day applications, while de-emphasizing the intimidating mathematical aspects. This approach is designed to take advantage of students’ intuition, making the learning process easier and more engaging. This text includes: more than 1,000 illustrations with a sensational visual appeal that highlight its key learning features; and, approximately 2,000 homework problems in design, computer, essay, and laboratory-type problems.

About the Author
Javad Hashemi is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech University and is currently serving as the Associate Dean for Research in the Edward E. Whitacre College of Engineering. Javad received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in 1988. He has been teaching undergraduate and graduate materials and mechanics courses, as well as laboratories, at Texas Tech University since 1991. Dr. Hashemi has an extensive research background in manufacturing, structural, and synthesis aspects of materials. His current research focus is the areas of materials, biomaterials, and engineering education. The late William F. Smith was Professor Emeritus of Engineering in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department of the University of Central Florida at Orlando, Florida. He was awarded an M.S. degree in metallurgical engineering from Purdue University and a Sc.D. degree in metallurgy from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Smith, who was a registered professional engineer in the states of California and Florida, taught undergraduate and graduate materials science and engineering courses and actively wrote textbooks for many years. He was also the author of Structure and Properties of Engineering Alloys, Second Edition (McGraw- Hill, 1993).
For undergraduate Mechanics of Materials courses in Mechanical, Civil, and Aerospace Engineering departments. Containing Hibbeler’s hallmark student-oriented features, this text is in four-color with a photorealistic art program designed to help students visualize difficult concepts. A clear, concise writing style and more examples than any other text further contribute to students’ ability to master the material.
